The Story Behind This Australian Landscape Collection
This Australian Landscape Photography collection was created to showcase the atmosphere, scale, and diversity of Australia’s natural environments — from rural farmland and national parks through to coastlines, mountain regions, and outback-inspired landscapes.
Originally from Western New South Wales, Australian landscape photographer David Diehm has strong roots in the Riverina region. Growing up on a small farm near Griffith, his early years were shaped by wide open spaces, irrigation farmland, country roads, and the rhythms of rural Australian life.
The Riverina is widely recognised as one of Australia’s most important agricultural regions and is often referred to as the “food bowl of Australia.” Supported by the extensive irrigation systems of the Murrumbidgee and Murray rivers, the region produces a significant portion of Australia’s rice, wine grapes, citrus, cotton, and broadacre crops. This distinctive farming landscape — with its grids of fields, water channels, and changing seasonal colours — forms an iconic part of Australia’s rural identity.
That connection to rural Australia remains deeply embedded within David’s photography today. While much of his work now also focuses on coastlines and ocean environments, there remains a strong pull toward the simplicity, scale, and grounding feeling of the Australian countryside.
